Retaining Walls

Sheet pile retaining walls provide lateral support for the soil between different elevations when creating permanent variations in ground levels or excavations.

Usually constructed using planks of wood or steel sheets which are driven into the ground, they are used also used in areas of limited space or to provide propping for existing structures.

Selection of the appropriate system is based on a number of factors including whether or not the structure is permanent, wall height, soil conditions and water levels. Vibration and noise levels must also be considered. Before construction begins geotechnical investigations are carried out to establish soil and groundwater conditions.

CCL Fundering works with the consulting engineer to determine the necessary pile length and whether there is a requirement for additional support in the form of tie backs, depending on deformations and depth of excavation in front of the wall.
